These Terms and Conditions apply to all works carried out by Metrovolt Limited (“the Contractor”, “we”, “us”) for the client (“you”, “the client”).Last updated 23/08/26

## 1. Quotations
1.1 All quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
1.2 Quotes are based on the visible condition of the installation and the agreed scope of works.1.3 Any hidden defects, unsafe wiring, inaccessible areas, or unforeseen issues discovered after work begins may result in additional charges, which will be agreed before proceeding where reasonably possible.---## 2. Acceptance
2.1 Acceptance of our quote may be made by:
- signed acceptance
- quickbooks estimate acceptance
- email confirmation
- text or WhatsApp confirmation
- payment of deposit
- verbal instruction to proceed
- agreed booking date
2.2 Once accepted, these Terms and Conditions form the agreement between us.---## 3. Deposits and Payments
3.1 A deposit may be required before booking materials or labour.
3.2 Unless otherwise agreed:
- domestic works: payment due on completion
- larger works: staged payments may apply
- commercial customers: payment due within 7 days
3.3 Late payments may incur:
- debt recovery and legal costs
- suspension of future works
3.4 Certificates and warranties may be withheld until payment is received in full.---## 4. Scope of Works
4.1 Our price includes only the work specifically listed in the quotation.
4.2 The following are excluded unless stated:
- plastering or decorating repairs
- flooring uplift/reinstatement
- joinery or builder works
- asbestos surveys/removal
- specialist access equipment
- utility company works
---## 5. Variations and Additional Work
5.1 Any additional work requested by you after acceptance will be treated as a variation.
5.2 Variation work may be charged:
- at an agreed fixed price, or
- at £45 per hour plus materials
5.3 Urgent remedial work necessary to make an installation safe may proceed immediately and be charged accordingly.---## 6. Existing Wiring and Hidden Defects
6.1 We are not responsible for faults caused by:
- existing unsafe wiring
- historic DIY alterations
- deteriorated accessories
- concealed junctions
- overloaded circuits
- non-compliant previous installations
6.2 If dangerous defects are found, we may isolate circuits immediately for safety.6.3 Any remedial work required to bring the installation to a safe or certifiable standard will be quoted separately.---## 7. Customer Responsibilities
7.1 You must provide:
- safe and reasonable access
- clear working areas
- parking where possible
- access to electrical intake/meter positions
- permission from landlord or factor where needed
7.2 Delays caused by denied access, missing keys, other trades, or unavailable areas may incur additional charges.---## 8. Testing, Certification and Compliance
8.1 All work will be carried out in accordance with:
- BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations
- applicable Scottish Building Standards
8.2 We will provide appropriate certification where applicable, including:
- Minor Works Certificate (MEIWC)
- Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC)
- Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)
- test schedules or circuit charts where required
8.3 Certification is issued only after full payment.8.4 EICR limitations (unless otherwise agreed):
-No testing of any heating controls, alarm or intercom equipment. No testing of any battery smoke, heat or carbon detectors.
-Circuits incorporating integrated appliances only tested at isolation spur unit and not at socket outlet behind appliance to prevent damage to goods.
---## 9. Customer-Supplied Materials
9.1 We accept no liability for customer-supplied:
- fittings
- appliances
- EV chargers
- lighting
- accessories
- smart devices
9.2 Additional labour caused by faulty or incompatible customer-supplied items is chargeable.9.3 Where smart products such as EV chargers are installed, wifi set-up and pairing is not included unless agreed before install. We are registered with certain EV charger brands to commission their products.---## 10. Cancellations and Cooling-Off Rights (Scotland)
10.1 If you book work:
- online
- by phone
- by email
- in your home
- away from our business premises
you may have a 14-day legal cooling-off period under Scottish consumer law. (Citizens Advice)10.2 If work has not started, cancellation within that period entitles you to a full refund. (Citizens Advice)10.3 If you ask us to start during the 14-day period, you agree to pay for work completed, time spent, and materials ordered up to cancellation. (Citizens Advice)10.4 Special-order, bespoke, or non-returnable goods may not be refundable.10.5 Cancellations after the cooling-off period may be subject to:
- labour costs incurred
- material restocking
- booked time loss
- cancellation charge
---## 11. Delays Outside Our Control
We are not liable for delays caused by:
- supplier shortages
- utility issues
- access restrictions
- severe weather
- customer changes
- hidden structural defects
- third-party contractors
- force majeure events
---## 12. Warranty
12.1 We provide a 12-month workmanship guarantee unless otherwise stated.
12.2 Manufacturer warranties apply to supplied products.12.3 Warranty excludes:
- misuse
- accidental damage
- water ingress
- third-party interference
- power surges
- customer-supplied products
- fair wear and tear
---## 13. Liability
13.1 We maintain appropriate public liability insurance.
13.2 Our total liability is limited to the value of the works carried out.13.3 Nothing in these terms excludes liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence
- fraud
- statutory consumer rights
---## 14. Ownership of Materials
All materials remain our property until paid for in full.
---## 15. Complaints and Disputes
15.1 Any concerns must be raised within 7 days of completion.
15.2 Both parties agree to attempt to resolve disputes in good faith before court proceedings.15.3 This agreement is governed by Scottish law, and disputes shall be subject to the Scottish courts.---## 13. Liability
